Realtime & likely to buy
Realtime shows the last 30 minutes of activity and refreshes every 10 seconds. Its most useful part is Likely to buy: the visitors on your site right now who are behaving like buyers.
What Realtime shows#
- On site right now: distinct visitors who did something in the last 5 minutes. With several sites, each site's count is listed under the total.
- The bar chart: pageviews per minute for the last 30 minutes.
- The map: pageviews by country over the last 30 minutes.
- Pages, Sources, Countries: what those visitors viewed, where they came from and where they are, over the last 30 minutes.
- Activity: the newest events as they happen (pageviews and custom events), 12 at first and up to 60.
Likely to buy#
Each visitor active in the last 5 minutes gets a score from 1 to 99, with the reasons next to it. It is a transparent heuristic with fixed weights, not a trained model, so you can always see why someone ranks high. The top eight are shown, hottest first.
| Signal | Points | Shown as |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | 5 | |
| Fired an event whose name contains buy, checkout or purchase (the automatic checkout event counts), or clicked a link to a checkout page | +35 | Clicked buy |
| Viewed a page whose path contains pricing, price, plan, plans, buy, checkout, purchase, upgrade or order | +22 | Viewed pricing |
| Viewed more than one page | +8 for each extra page, up to +24 | 3 pages |
| Came back: the same visitor was seen earlier, more than 30 minutes before this visit, within the last 30 days | +14 | Came back |
| Has been on the site for more than 2 minutes | +8 | 3 min on site |
| Arrived from search, email or an AI assistant | +6 | From search, From email, From an AI assistant |
| Is on a desktop or laptop | +4 |
The score is capped at 99. A solid blue badge means 60 or more, a light one 30 to 59, and grey below 30. Someone who just landed with no other signal sits near 5 and is labelled “Just arrived”.
The same list is available to your AI assistant through the MCP server's get_live tool, which returns the top ten with their reasons.
Common issues#
- Realtime says 0 but I just visited
- Your own browser may be excluded, or you are on localhost. See excluding your visits. Otherwise wait up to 10 seconds for the next refresh.
- Nobody has a high score
- That is normal on a quiet day. High scores need real intent signals: pricing, a buy click, a return visit.
- Imported Umami site has fewer signals
- For Umami-sourced sites Pulse sees pages, time on site and buy clicks, but not return visits or channels, so scores are lower.
- Countries show but no cities
- The map is by country. Cities appear on the Analytics page when your host provides them.
