Tracked links New
Make a short link for your Instagram bio, a post or a newsletter. Pulse tags it, counts the clicks, and shows the visitors, orders and revenue each link brought.
Create a link#
- Open Links in the dashboard
Fill in the destination page, a label only you see, and the channel (Instagram, Threads, X, Newsletter, YouTube, TikTok or Other). Optionally set a short name and a campaign.
- Copy the short link
It looks like
https://YOUR_PULSE_DOMAIN/go/your-link. Paste it in your bio or post. - Read the results
Each link shows clicks, unique visitors, orders and revenue (all time), and revenue per click.
What a click does#
- Pulse records a
link_clickevent for the link's site (bots and link-preview fetchers are redirected but not counted). - It redirects (302) to your destination with
utm_source,utm_medium, optionalutm_campaign,utm_contentset to the link's short name, andref. Your own query parameters are kept. - The visit that follows is attributed to that source, so revenue attribution credits sales to the link.
| Channel | utm_source | utm_medium |
|---|---|---|
| social | ||
| Threads | threads | social |
| X | x | social |
| Newsletter | newsletter | |
| YouTube | youtube | video |
| TikTok | tiktok | social |
| Other | a name you choose | link |
Rules#
- The destination must be on your site's domain (or a subdomain), unless you tick external destination. It can never point back to Pulse, include a username or password, or use anything but http(s).
- Short names are 2 to 40 characters: letters, numbers,
-and_, and unique across Pulse. - Up to 200 links per site. Deleting a link stops it working; clicks already counted stay.
Common issues#
- Clicks are counted but orders are zero
- Orders appear when the buyer's checkout carried their visitor id. Make sure the destination page runs the Pulse script and your checkout is connected.
- “The address must be on your domain”
- Use a page on the site's domain, or tick external destination.
- The link says it is no longer valid
- The site's domain changed and the destination no longer matches. Edit the link.
